Workspace Definition Files
A workspace definition file (WDF) is copy or “snapshot” of the information in a Documaker Studio workspace. It contains information about the resources and fonts within a Studio library at the time the WDF is created.
A WDF is a single XML file that is stored on your computer, and you can update it when the Studio workspace changes.
To utilize Mobile attributes in the Word Add-in, you must export a new Workspace Definition File after you have installed Oracle Documaker Mobile. Once the new file is referenced by the Add-In the Mobile attributes will be available.
By associating a Documaker document with a workspace definition file, you help ensure that the resources used in the Add-In match those in the Studio workspace into which the documents you create will be imported. Using a WDF, therefore, avoids having to recreate all the resources that are already in a Studio library. When working with documents, you can select from any of the available resources in the workspace definition file. Because the workspace definition file is a copy of the Studio workspace, you cannot delete or edit the resources in it. However, you can create new resources, and add them to Documaker documents.
Resources that you create (outside of the WDF) are called local resources because they are local to your computer. Local resources that you insert into a Documaker document are included in this document when you send it to the Studio user.
Updating a Workspace Definition File
When you update a workspace definition file, it will reflect any changes in the associated Studio workspace since the workspace was last updated. Therefore, using a workspace definition file helps ensure that the resources you use in the Add-In are consistent with those in Documaker Studio.
